Event Overview
With an ageing population, low birthrate and rapidly changing medical needs, Japan must consider issues including how tools, such as technology, can be best utilized while contributing to today’s global society.
On July 24, 2015, Health and Global Policy will host a Breakfast Meeting highlighting the 20 year vision of health care developed by the Japan Vision: Health Care 2035 Advisory Panel- a vision that focuses on health care system reforms driven by connected, inter-generational and inter-sectoral networks that reach past the current system’s restraints. The vision was compiled into a final set of recommendations that were officially submitted to the Minister of Health on June 9, 2015 and include three main sections: 1) Implement value-based health care, 2) Empower society and support personal choice, and 3) Lead and contribute to global health.
At this event, Professor Shibuya and Kohei Onozaki, who also served on the 2035 Advisory Panel, will discuss the Advisory Panel’s recommendations and vision and share specific action steps required to make the vision a reality. Following the discussion, the speakers will take questions and comments from the audience.
(An executive summary of the recommendations in English are available for download here. Please note that the full document is currently being translated and will be available shortly. The Japanese version is available for download here.)
Health and Global Policy Institute has made the issue of health care sustainability a main focus area of its work and is organizing activities that stimulate discussions and action on this topic.
